Big Rush Cast

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Big Rush Cast is one of those games that clicks after about three rounds. You guide a small character forward through rolling lanes, and the whole loop is built around casting moves at the right beat. Tap too early and you stall, tap on time and the screen practically snaps forward. It sounds simple, and it is, but the rhythm gets under your skin quickly.

Controls are all touch and gestures. A quick tap triggers a cast, a swipe shifts your lane, and holding builds up a stronger push you can release when the path opens. The levels get faster in clean steps, so you never feel like difficulty jumped out of nowhere. We especially liked how forgiving the early stages are while still leaving room to chase better runs later.

After a week the team kept coming back to it for short bursts between longer games. It's not a deep RPG, but as a pick-up-and-play arcade title it nails the feel. The one thing we'd change is more variety in the backgrounds, since they start repeating around stage fifteen.
